Introducing the Everest Free Crochet Scarf pattern. If you live in a climate as cold as Canada this is a must add to your crochet pattern stash. This crochet scarf pattern will make up in just a few hours using your favourite super bulky yarn and a 15mm hook.

The Everest crochet scarf is made with such a unique texture it is fantastic for guys, gals, kids and adults and with sizes from toddler to adult you can make for all of your favourite people. Add a fringe or keep it plain either way it looks great.
The Yarn
I made this crochet scarf using Bernat Softee Chunky – i love the soft feel of the yarn it worked perfectly with this stitch. Bulky yarn could be substituted in a pinch but the texture isn’t as noticeable when using a smaller weight yarn.
If you decide to go up to a #7 Extra Bulky make sure to go up a hook size as well. This will keep your scarf soft and flexible but still super warm.
If you have worsted weight on hand double up holding two strands together. This will show off the texture beautifully!
Now all you have to do is pick that yarn get your hook and scroll down for the pattern.

Adjusting the size of the crochet scarf
This scarf has been designed long enough to wrap around twice plus leave plenty of length to tuck under a winter coat for extra warmth. Resizing this design is super easy – read on…
The beginning chain of this scarf is actually the length. So if you want to change the length of the scarf you will want to add or subtract stitches from your beginning chain. Every two chains equals about 1 inch in length.
Be sure to keep your beginning chain a multiple of 2 for this texture.

FRINGE
Fringe is placed in the end of rows evenly across bottom of scarf.
Cut 48 (or 4 at a time) pieces of yarn approximately 16 inches long.
Fold 4 pieces of yarn at a time in half and hold bottom of scarf with wrong side facing you, use hook to draw the folded ends around the stitch pulling from right side under stitch back up through to right side again.
Pull the loose ends through the folded section and draw the knot up not too firmly. Repeat in the end of every other row. Once fringes are all attached trim to straight bottom edge.
