A coverlet is a larger, heavier blanket that can be used as a standalone bedspread or as an additional layer under a comforter. A bedspread is the largest and heaviest type of blanket, typically used as a standalone bedspread.
What size should a crochet comforter be?
A crochet comforter can be any size that you desire, which makes it perfect for either a baby’s crib or an adult’s bed.
If you are using it for a baby, you will want to make sure that it is small enough so that they cannot pull it over their head and get tangled in it. For an adult bed, you can make it as big or small as you like.
The most important part is to make sure that the comforter is able to cover the person from their shoulders to their feet when they are lying down.
What size should a crochet coverlet be?
A crochet coverlet should be large enough to drape over the sides of the bed covering both the mattress and boxspring.
If you want your coverlet to hang over the sides of the bed, add 6 to 8 inches to each measurement. This of course will depend on how high the frame of the bed sits so it is always best to measure when you can.
What size should a crochet bedspread be?
When it comes to crochet bedspreads, size really does matter. After all, you don’t want your beautiful crochet work to end up being too small or too large for the bed it’s intended for. So how do you make sure you get the size just right?
There used to be a simple formula to follow to determine the finished width of your blanket, simply multiply the width of your bed by 1.5. For example, if you have a queen-size bed that measures 60 inches wide, your finished blanket should be approximately 90 inches wide. HOWEVER! Because there are so many different bed frames now, some having box springs some only mattresses, some higher to allow for storage etc. To be sure always measure the height of the bed.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: The measurements on this download are standard measurements for something custom always get measurements when you can.
