Free Easy Crochet Pattern for The Montero Cozy Cowl

It’s that time of year!  Cowl season is here and I think you will all love this one!  The Montero Crochet Cowl Pattern has been a great seller in my Etsy store for years and is one of my easy cowls to make and now I am offering is here as a free crochet pattern!

This actually makes me super excited because I know a lot of you have already been enjoying this beautiful texture with the Montero Cup Cozy Pattern – and the Montero Ice Cap Cozy Pattern and now you can make a matching gift set using this free pattern too!

I also have to add that if you have any men in your life – they may actually like this one! It has been super popular as gift giving for men.

With it’s simple design The Montero is an Easy Crochet Cowl pattern. With clear instructions and basic stitches like single crochet and half double crochet, and easy row repeat it is the perfect choice for both beginners and experienced crocheters.

Customizing this Cozy Cowl

Because of the simple stitches used, changing the size of this cowl couldn’t be easier.  Make an oversized cowl by adding stitches or a small size by subtracting stitches from your foundation chain. And, then just repeat rounds to change the height of the cowl.

This easy cowl pattern is great for trying out  bulky yarn (you will need a larger hook) or really any yarn weight you prefer. Even though it may change the overall look and may feel a little different from mine if it is for your own personal use have fun with it!

You will also want to test different a hook size for different yarns to make sure that you achieve the softness and drape you like most.

Chunky yarn has so many great options and different colors making it the perfect gift for anyone.  Also note that how much yarn you need may change depending on the yarn you choose so always by more than you think you will need.

How to print this pattern

If you’re looking for a crochet pattern that you can take with you anywhere, and that is easy to read and follow, then look no further!

I’ve created an INEXPENSIVE ad-free version of my popular crochet pattern that you can easily download from Etsy.  This way, you can mark up the pattern as needed without any distractions, and enjoy crocheting it wherever you go.

Thanks so much for supporting my blog!

Simple Construction of the Cowl

The Montero Crochet Cowl has a beautiful pattern comprised of only basic stitches, using single crochet stitch, slip stitch and half double crochet stitch.

Worked in sections this crochet cowl quickly take shape before your eyes.  Each section is worked in continuous rounds but at the end of each section your work is turned so that you are working with the opposite side of the cowl facing you.

The single crochet stitches worked from the foundation chain will be worked with right side facing – then you will join and turn so that the wrong side is facing while working the textured rounds.
