Materials Needed
- 5.00 mm hook
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers

Notes:
- This cozy is crocheted from the bottom up.
- Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round for easier counting.
- Rounds 1 – 6 are worked continuously in a spiral. Do not join unless noted.
- Rows 7 and 8 are joined to create a neat base section before the handle opening begins. After that, the body is worked in turned rows unless your mug handle sits higher and you need an extra joined row or two. The original pattern also notes that, depending on handle placement, you may choose not to join the first two rounds as written.
- Row 7 is worked into the stitches of Round 6.
- From Row 8 onward, all stitches are worked into the chain-2 spaces from the previous row, not into individual stitches.

Seam Placement & Handle Position
Depending on how the handle is positioned on your mug (how far up from the bottom of the mug it is), you may choose not to join the first two rounds as written. I join these rounds to keep the seam clean and subtle so the cozy has a smooth, finished look and sits nicely and evenly on the base of the mug.
However, if your handle placement makes the seam more noticeable or awkward, feel free to skip these joins. This small change won’t affect the overall fit, but it can make a big difference in how polished your finished mug cozy looks on your specific cup.
