Free Crochet Pattern – Christmas Mitten Mini Ornament
Get ready for the up coming holiday season with this free crochet pattern, and get in the Christmas spirit crocheting these little mini mitten ornaments. Crafted with a hanging loop, these cute ornaments serve as a festive addition to your handmade crochet ornaments collection.
The Yarn
This crochet stocking pattern is completely flexible, it was written using Loops & Threads Charisma because I had so many scraps on hand. They worked perfectly for these crochet mitten ornaments.
Want to use your own yarn? Check out www.yarnsub.com to see if it is a good substitution. Just remember it really doesn’t need to be the same gauge as used here.
Substituting Yarns
These sweet little Christmas mittens can be made in any yarn you like. Just adjust your crochet hook size accordingly and remember when you change the hook and the yarn the size will change as well.
If you are looking to make tiny mittens that is easy too! Simply try different yarn weights perhaps a worsted weight or a sport weight yarn and change your hook size to match the yarn and you will have a smaller mitten.
Make a bunch and string them together for a crochet mitten garland, turn these crochet mini mittens into gift card holders or just make them and hang them as adorable crochet Christmas Ornaments.

FREE CROCHET MITTEN ORNAMENT PATTERN
Start by making the main part of the mitt. This will be made working in rounds from the top of the mitt down to the bottom band all in one piece.
The thumb will then be crocheted as a separate piece, and sewn on in the last step.

Hanging Chain
Chain 8. join to stocking with slst in same st as beginning of chain.

Thumb
The thumb will be worked in continuous rounds through round 4. Then you will work a half row which will allow for nicer positioning of the thumb on the mitt. This half round will allow the thumb piece to sit at an angle instead of straight out if we had not made it.

Rnds 2-4: Sc in 1st st and each st around (6)

Use photo above as guide for thumb placement and sew thumb to mitt with needle and yarn.
I hope you all had fun making these – let me know – what colours did you chose?
