Crochet Baby Hat 4 Sizes Included – Sweet Scalloped Beanie

Are you looking for a super easy, super fast and super cute beanie to make?  MORE SIZES JUST ADDED!

This crochet baby hat pattern is so much easier to make than it looks.  This classic texture comes together with a simple combination of single crochet and double crochet so I know YOU CAN DO IT!

I have done Step-By-Step tutorials for anyone who needs a little extra help.  And if you are an awesome maker already scroll down and enjoy the pattern below.

Rounds 1-3

Woo Hoo check out those increase rounds – looking good baby!

Round 4

Now that you have finished the increase rounds the top of the hat may be rippled.  Don’t fret this will fix itself soon!

Rounds 5-14

Look, it’s becoming a hat! Double check and count again.  44 stitches?  Good keep going!

Change to 5.50 mm hook 

Rounds 15-16

Ready for the finishing touches!

At this point you can either add the scalloped edging per the pattern, or simply do a few more rounds of sc.

Scalloped Edging

Sk 1st st, 5dc in next, sk next 2 sts, sl st next, sk next st, 5dc in next rpt to end of round finish with sl st in last st.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

5.5 mm crochet hook
6.0 mm crochet hook

0-3 Months

Hat worked in continuous rounds

Using 6.00 mm hook ch 2 

Rnd 1: Work 10 dc in 2nd ch from hook. (10)

Rnd 2: (Sc, dc) in 1st st and each st around (20)

Rnd 3: (Sc, dc) in 1st st and each st around (40)

Rnd 4: Skip 1st st, (sc, dc) in next dc *sk next st (sc,dc) in next dc* rpt from *to* end of rnd (40)

Rnds 5-13: Skip 1st st, (sc, dc) in next dc *sk next st (sc,dc) in next dc* rpt from *to* end of rnd (40)

Change to 5.50 mm hook

Rnd 14-15 : Sc in 1st and each st around (40)

Scalloped Edging

Sk 1st st, 5dc in next, sk next 2 sts, sl st next, sk next st, 5dc in next rpt to end of round finish with sl st in last st.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.


3-6 MONTHS 15.5″ x 6″

This hat is worked in continuous rounds.  For this particular design we will not be joining or turning at the end of the rounds.  We will be using a stitch marker at the beginning of each round to mark our first stitches and a finger counter to keep track of our rounds.

Using 6.00 mm hook ch 2

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6)

Rnd 2: Sc in 1st st, (sc, dc) in each st around (11)

Rnd 3: (Sc, dc) in 1st st and each st around (22)

Rnd 4: (Sc, dc) in 1st st and each st around (44)

Rnd 5: Skip 1st st, (sc, dc) in next dc *sk next st (sc,dc) in next dc* rpt from *to* end of rnd (44)

Change to 5.50 mm hook
