SKILL LEVEL
Beginner/Easy

ABBREVIATION ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
st – stitch
sts – stitches
sl st – slip stitch
rpt – repeat

MATERIALS
6.5 mm hook
5.5 mm hook (for mouth)
4.5 mm hook (for hair)
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Markers
50g – 100g 5 Bulky weight yarn
Small amount of contrast yarn if desired for hair and top of head and mouth.

GIRL EYES (boys are sewn with tapestry needle use photo as guide)

Newborn through 2 yrs I used worsted (4) weight with 5.5 mm hook

Larger sizes 3 years and up I used bulky (5) weight with 6.5 mm hook

Ch 2
Rnd 1: Working in 1st ch, 2 sc, 4 hdc join with sl st and fasten off.

Eyelashes
Using single strand of yarn and tapestry needle, stitch eyelashes using photo as guide.

HAIR
Use any yarn but be sure to use hook at least 2 sizes smaller than what is called for.  Simply chain until you reach desired length – I made three but make as many as you like.

Leave ends long so that you can tie a bow around them then pull loose ends through to back side of hat and tie in knot.  Weave in ends.

MOHAWK – I used Bernat Roving for the hair it is very thick and stands up great.  You can also use double strands of yarn for a thicker look.
Use photos below for reference if needed.

Cut 10 pieces of contrast colour yarn at a time, approximately 6 to 7 inches long.

Working across the top of the hat, approximately 3 to 4 stitches across.

Fold yarn pieces in half and hold hat with right side facing you, use hook to draw the folded ends around  the stitch pulling from right side under stitch back up through to right side again.

Pull the loose ends through the folded section and draw the knot up firmly.  Repeat for entire hat.

Make the Mohawk has large as you like.

Hold hat upside down and trim to desired length and make all ends even.

TIES (Optional) – worked the same as a fringe

Cut 6 – 9 pieces yarn 30 inches or longer.

Working in 3 stitches at bottom of earflap, hold two strands of yarn and fold in half.  Hold hat with right side facing you, using hook draw the folded ends through the stitch from right to wrong side. Repeat for next two stitches.

Pull the loose ends through the folded section and draw the knot up firmly.  Repeat for next two stitches.  Braid and knot at end.

Repeat for other earflap.

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you
relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what youre
talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your weblog when you could be giving us something
    enlightening to read?

What colors did you use for the sock monkey Hat? I’m also confused on how to do the girls hair, I don’t see a picture.

Hi Shirley I used Bernat Twists I’m not sure they even make it any more 🙁 For the hair you simply just chain and it will curl on it’s own. Hmm no picture – let me see if I can hook you up with one.
