How long should a crochet cowl be?

This is personal choice really.  In my opinion I say make whatever feels comfortable for you.

For this crochet cowl you will start by making a chain of 70.  This results in a cowl that is quite loose, approximately 34″ around. So, if you would like a snug fit you will want to reduce the number of your beginning chain.

A quick tip is to wrap the chain around your neck to see how it will fit – this is just a rough estimate but you will get an idea the length you may like to make.

IMPORTANT NOTE If you change the number of chains be sure to keep a multiple of 2.

How tall should a crochet cowl be?

This is really up to you.  Some people like big cowls that are large and super chunky.  And for some smaller is better.

This crochet cowl pattern results in a cowl that is 22” tall.  

If you want to change how tall your cowl is just make more or less rounds till you reach the height that is perfect for you.

How do you crochet a cowl in round?

This crochet cowl must be crocheted in the round.  This means that the rounds will be worked continuously and you will not be turning at any point.  

Turning with this pattern will result in a completely different looking cowl.  Nice but not as beautiful as this feminine texture.

Rnds 3- 39: (tc, sc) in 1st tc *sk next st (tc, sc) in next tc* rpt from *to* to end of rnd. (70)

Rnd 40: Hdc in 1st and each st around.  Fasten off and weave in ends. (70)

Helpful Hint:  If you don’t want to count rounds just work continuously until the neck warmer reaches 22 inches in height.
