Pretty Darn Adorable

Crochet You Will Love Forever

Free and Easy Summer Crochet Hat Pattern

February 8, 2021      Leave a Comment

This little baby summer crochet hat pattern is great for the summer in cotton or cotton blend and perfect as the weather gets a little chilly in wool or acrylic. It will be cozy but not too warm during those transitional months.

This crochet beanie is worked top down. The top is worked in hdc then the crossed cluster starts at the sides of the hat.

A special thank you to Gretchen Ennis Photography for the adorable photos in this post!

Imagine surprising someone with this adorable crochet hat for Valentines, Easter or Summer vacation.

This baby hat is fun and easy to make, a thoughtful gift, and a perfect crochet pattern to customize by changing colours on the contrast band, detailed hand stitching and beautiful crochet rose.

The Chloe Beanie is crocheted top down using increases of 6 hdc per round.  If you want to make in a larger size just crochet additional increase rounds and then as many cluster rounds you need to reach the length you need.  If you aren’t fond of guess work there is a Full downloadable PDF available including 5 sizes Newborn through Adult.

YARN CHOICES

The Crochet Chloe Beanie works up great in a cotton, cotton blend and acrylic yarn beautifully! The model wearing the pink hat here on the blog is modelling the 6 -12-month size made in a cotton/acrylic blend.

COTTON

A great choice if you want to crochet for the warmer months. Cotton is excellent as it conducts heat away from the body, keeping baby cool and comfortable!  Another advantages to using cotton is that it doesn’t pill and really shows off this stitch beautifully!  If you do decide to use cotton yarn be sure to lay the hat flat after washing!  Cotton can get very heavy when wet and you don’t want your beautiful project to lose its shape after washing it.

ACRYLIC

I have also made this many times in acrylic, which is great for fall or cooler spring days. It works up perfectly in Vanna’s Choice and Bernat Satin, two of my favourite acrylic yarns to work with.  Acrylic yarn is great for cooler days, it is soft, easy to work with, washes beautifully and rarely will garments lose their colour even upon multiple washings.  With so many acrylic yarns available the colour choices are endless – and remember!  This one looks great with contrasting bands and roses!

This hat isn’t just for babies!  Sizes Newborn through Adult 5 Sizes!

This crochet hat is fast and fun to make! The increase rounds consist of half double crochet stitches, and once the increase rounds are complete, then we start with the sweet little clusters.

Easy peasy lemon squeezie! So lets get started!
